School Board Members

Simon Korzec - Chair/Parent Representative

I have a daughter in Year 6 and a son who recently graduated from Glengarry Primary School. Our family have been a part of the school community since the children were in kindergarten. I joined the Board in 2011 and have held the role of Chair since 2012. A background in Management Consulting and current work in senior IT Management has given me a grounding in Board and policy process.

My goal, as chair, is to work with the other board members and community to promote excellence in education for our children.

Peter Meston - Principal

The Principal of the school maintains an ex-officio role on the School Board and I am fortunate to have filled this position since 2010. Prior to accepting the position at Glengarry PS, I was Principal at a number of metropolitan primary schools, notably Cloverdale PS, Churchlands PS and Carlisle PS. These positions were preceded by periods of time in country location as an educational leader, including Mingenew, Esperance, Norseman and Babakin.

During this time, my wife and I have raised two children, with my son maintaining a desire to continue the family tradition of teaching.

My role on the School Board is to keep the Board fully informed of all school operations including supporting the analysis of data and the resulting strategic planning to address areas of need. Ultimately, this intent aligns implicitly to the school’s vision of ensuring we maximise the potential of all students.

Caroline Larkin - Staff Representative

I have been a member of the Glengarry Primary School staff since 2000. During this time I have taught across a range of year levels. I am currently teaching Year 3 and am also the school’s Curriculum Coordinator for Literacy, a role I have had for almost six years. In this role I am involved in planning and developing the school’s Strategic Plan, coordinating the Whole School Literacy Plan and providing support for teachers in this area. I have a particular interest in literacy and students at educational risk. I am currently serving my second term on the board.

Kerryn Ellis - Parent Representative

I commenced my tenure with the School Board last year. This is my second year being involved with Glengarry Primary School and am the parent of a children in Kindergarten and Pre-Primary. I am a Primary School Teacher and have worked in Government Schools for the past 18 years. I'm hoping to be able to draw on my experience in Education and make a valuable contribution.

Emily Taylor - Staff Representative

I am the Science specialist and Year Four teacher at Glengarry Primary School. One of my passions in education is the integration of digital technologies and STEM within the curriculum. I support staff to implement technologies and coordinate the resources for the school. I am currently serving my first term on the board.

Hardik Gandhi - Parent Representative

I was elected to the school board in 2018. I have a daughter in Year 1 at Glengarry Primary School. I work as a technical consultant (Oracle database administrator) at Curtin University. I am enthusiastic about the role technology is playing as an enabler across all aspects of education. I strongly feel that disruptive innovation in the education system such as online learning and augmented reality provides us with an opportunity to consider how we can leverage it to improve our children's learning and do it in a better way. I hope to bring this perspective to the school board.

Adrian Schonfeld - Parent Representative

My name is Adrian Schonfeld and I am new to the school board in 2018. My children are in grade three and five at the school so I have been around Glengarry for a while. My family has found Glengarry Primary School to be a great community to be involved with and I am grateful for the opportunity that I have been trusted with to assist in making sure the school maintains its great staff and programs and is able to support those with ideas for making it an even better place.

Away from the school, I am a psychologist. I work mostly with young athletes trying to make it to be international performers for Australia. I am really interested in how a primary school becomes a positive influence for children to develop the skills that will enable them to navigate their way through the various social, emotional and intellectual challenges they will face.

Jenny McFarlane – Staff Representative

This is my third year of teaching Kindergarten Students at Glengarry Primary School. I have been connected with Glengarry Primary School for the past 11 years that I have lived in Perth with my husband and family of three children. I am a parent of a past graduate student of Glengarry PS and prior to commencing full time teaching at Glengarry PS I was a regular relief teacher in both Pre Primary and Kindergarten classes. I have local school connections from past full time teaching contracts at Halidon Kindergarten, Hillarys Pre Primary and Hillarys Community Kindergarten.

I am passionate about the importance of high quality Early Childhood Education programs and learning through active creative and explorative play. I bring to the School Board a range of educational experience from working in Victorian, Northern Territory and Perth schools over the past 30 years. This is my first term as a full member of the Glengarry School Board.
